Almost three quarters of German companies in a recent poll say
they believe the number of trips they take will reduce by 30 per cent or
more after the Covid pandemic is over. 12 per cent of the 75 companies surveyed
said they expected the number of business trips to halve in the future compared
to pre-pandemic levels.
Buyers¡¯ association VDR's fortnightly survey,
the latest edition of which was published on 5 October, reveals that 94.1 per cent
of those companies surveyed are currently only allowing business trips in justified exceptional
cases with 1.2 per cent banning travel completely.
Almost one in five companies responding said they did not
believe the current restrictions would be lifted until after the second quarter
of 2021, up from 5.8 per cent at the end of July.
More than half of those surveyed (53.4 per cent) said they
would examine the necessity of business travel more carefully in the
future, up from 30.2 per cent at the start of the pandemic.
84.6 per cent said they did not believe it was likely their
companies would make any reduction in the number of staff in their travel
management functions.
