The renewal project will see seats in first and second class replaced, while those in business class will be ¡°renewed¡±. Carriage interiors will be upgraded to match the latest generation trains, including full-length seatbacks for more privacy.
The trains will also be equipped with new floor coverings, an ¡°improved¡± passenger information system and vending machines with drinks and snacks.
The first upgraded Railjet is set to debut this December on the new high-speed Koralm Railway, which, once complete, will reduce the journey time between?Graz and Klagenfurt from three hours to 45 minutes. According to the rail operator, the Koralm Railway will also ease cross-border travel into Hungary and Italy.
All 60 existing Railjet trains, which are also used on ?BB¡¯s routes to Germany, Switzerland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, are expected to be upgraded by 2031.
