Budget carrier Wizz Air is adding new routes from Its base at London Luton Airport, as well as preparing to resume flights to Israel next month.

The Hungary-based airline is introducing routes this winter from Luton to Milan Malpensa, Rome Fiumicino and Vienna, which will start on 26 October.

Wizz is also adding five routes from Luton to Spanish cities to its summer 2026 schedule. The airline will fly to Bilbao (five times per week), Barcelona (10 weekly), Madrid (daily), Valencia (five weekly) and Seville?(four weekly) from 29 March.

The carrier is preparing to resume flights to Israel from 8 August, when routes from Budapest and Larnaca to Tel Aviv will restart. This will be followed by services from Abu Dhabi and Luton to Tel Aviv on 15 August and 22 August respectively.

Another six routes to Tel Aviv ¨C from Vienna, Bucharest, Ias, Rome, Milan and Sofia ¨C are now due to resume on 1 September.

In a separate move, Wizz Air is launching two new routes from Gdansk in Poland to Madrid and Catania this winter, with these services starting on 28 October.

Earlier this month, Wizz announced that it was suspending its operations in Abu Dhabi as part of a ¡°strategic realignment¡±, which will see it refocus on key markets in Europe.

Wizz made an operating profit of €27.5?million for the first quarter of its financial year up to 30 June. This was down from a profit of €44.6?million in the same quarter of last year, due to ¡°higher airport, handling and en-route charges, as well as depreciation costs and GTF engine-related groundings¡±.

The airline carried 17 million passengers during the quarter ¨C up by 10.6 per cent year-on-year ¨C with a load factor of 91.1 per cent. Revenue also increased by 13.4 per cent to €1.43 billion over the same period.

This was despite the grounding of some aircraft for an ongoing programme of engine inspections ¨C 41 Wizz aircraft were out of service at the end of June for this purpose.
