Scandinavian airline SAS is to introduce high-speed wifi onboard flights thanks to a partnership with Elon Musk¡¯s Starlink satellite system.
The carrier said it would begin rolling out this new wifi service in all cabins across its entire fleet by the end of 2025, with EuroBonus loyalty scheme members receiving the service for free.
Following implementation, SAS passengers will be able to use wifi connectivity from the time they board until disembarkation compared with current systems that activate only after take-off and disconnect during descent. The service will allow travellers to use wifi on multiple devices simultaneously.
Paul Verhagen, chief commercial officer at SAS, said:?¡°We¡¯re putting an end to frustrating interruptions and ushering in a new era of connectivity.
¡°Whether flying over the Atlantic or the North Sea, our passengers can now count on a connection that is as stable and seamless as it is fast. This is about giving our customers the best and ensuring SAS remains synonymous with excellence.¡±
