Brussels Airport said it has decided to cancel all departing flights on 31 March after consulting with airlines, due to the planned walkout by security staff and ground handlers.
The airport also warned that cancellations were ※also possible§ for arriving flights and urged passengers not to come to the airport on 31 March.
Meanwhile Charleroi Airport said it would cancel all flights to and from the airport on 31 March due to the ※the lack of staff present to ensure safe operations§.
※Passengers scheduled to fly to and from Charleroi next Monday will be contacted by their airline for a rebooking or refund,§ said the airport in a statement.
※We regret the impact of this national strike on our passengers' travel plans and apologise for any inconvenience caused.§
Unions previously held a one-day national strike in February, which caused major disruption to flights to and from Belgium. Unions are protesting about the Belgian government*s proposed labour market reforms.
Meanwhile, Belgian train operator SNCB*s services this week are being impacted by a separate seven-day strike by the METISP-Protect rail union, which runs from 23-30 March.
