Lufthansa Group has completed the next stage of its integration with ITA Airways by locating the Italian carrier¡¯s flights within the group¡¯s terminals at both Frankfurt and Munich airports.

In a statement, the group said that all of the group¡¯s airlines, including ITA, were now ¡°under one roof¡± at its German hubs from the start of the summer schedule on Sunday (30 March).

The moves have been made following the completion of Lufthansa¡¯s purchase of a 41 per cent minority stake in ITA earlier this year.

ITA has now moved from Frankfurt¡¯s Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 where it will be flying from gate areas A and B, allowing passengers to benefit from ¡°significantly shorter distances and thus shorter transfer times¡±.

In Munich, ITA has moved from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 and its satellite, which is operated by a joint venture between Lufthansa and the airport.

The group said that all its airlines, including ITA, are already housed within the same terminals at Brussels, Rome, Vienna and Zurich airports. ITA and Lufthansa Group passengers also gain reciprocal access to each other¡¯s lounges around the world.

Dieter Vranckx, chief commercial officer of Lufthansa Group, added:?¡°This move is an important milestone in the integration of ITA Airways into the Lufthansa Group.

¡°Our customers will be able to transfer faster and more comfortably thanks to shorter distances and will have more comfort throughout their entire journey.

¡°This also includes the shared use of lounges. This integration gives ITA Airways passengers access to the enormous advantages of the Lufthansa Group, with all its premium airlines and a worldwide route network.¡±?

ITA and Lufthansa Group Airlines have also launched their joint codeshare flights at the start of the summer schedule, which cover more than 100 routes.
