The carrier, which announced plans to introduce the upgraded internet service a year ago, said that two Embraer 190s and two Airbus A220s were now equipped with the high-speed wifi system, which is provided through a deal with Elon Musk¡¯s Starlink satellite company.
A fifth aircraft, one of Air France¡¯s A350s, is due to have the new wifi system fitted this week when it will become the first long-haul aircraft to offer the improved service.
Air France said the wifi service would be available on 30 per cent of its fleet by the end of 2025 and on all aircraft by the end of next year. It can be accessed across all cabins.
The service is complimentary for passengers who can access it through their Flying Blue loyalty account. Travellers without an account can sign up onboard in ¡°just a few clicks¡±, said Air France.
¡°During this transitional period, the company will continue to offer an inflight internet connection onboard aircraft not yet equipped with high-speed wifi ¨C a free ¡°messaging¡± pass for Flying Blue members and a paid option for other uses,¡± added the airline.
