Launched in partnership with Paris airport operator Groupe ADP, the new ¡®Short Connection Pass¡¯?is automatically triggered when the connection time between flights falls below a certain threshold, the companies said in a statement.
Upon arrival?of the inbound flight, passengers receive a text message and an email informing them that, due to the short connection time, they are eligible for ¡°priority access¡± at security and border control checkpoints. The carrier added this message will soon also be delivered via WhatsApp and a notification in the Air France app.
The system relies on real-time information sharing between Air France and the airport operator, including estimated walking time through the airport, wait times at security screening and border checkpoints and the departure time of connecting flights.
When transiting travellers arrive?at the Paris CDG checkpoints, their boarding passes are scanned and the airport's ground services provider is "automatically notified" of the short connection. Priority access is then offered to travellers.
¡°The goal is to minimise?time spent at checkpoints and ensure passengers can reach their gate within the allotted time,¡± the companies said in a statement.
The Short Connection Pass is the first initiative borne out of the Connect France partnership formed in June between Air France-KLM and Groupe ADP.
Regis Lacote, director of Paris Charles de Gaulle airport, said: ¡°This initiative perfectly illustrates our shared ambition with the Air France-KLM Group: to streamline passenger flows and make Paris-Charles de Gaulle an even more efficient and attractive hub. The Short Connection Pass is simple for passengers and operationally effective ¨C a real step forward in improving the travel experience.¡±
