The Japanese carrier said the new ¡°supersized¡± seats, which also feature a privacy door, have been designed for its fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
ANA has been working with French aircraft seat manufacturer Safran Seats and UK design company Acumen on the new seats, which build on ¡°The Room¡± business class seats, which were introduced onboard the airline¡¯s Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in 2019.
The Room FX offers a seat pitch of 2.6 metres and extends into a fully flat 194cm bed. With a maximum width of 105cm, it is ¡°significantly wider¡± than the aircraft¡¯s existing seat but has a similar weight due to thinner cabin doors, backrests and seat-to-seat dividers. The seat¡¯s backrest can also be turned into a ¡°sofa-like configuration¡±.
Other features include a 24-inch HD entertainment screen, wireless charging and Bluetooth audio connection.
ANA said The Room FX seats will be ¡°gradually introduced¡± on its Boeing 787-9 long-haul international routes from 2026.
Tomoji Ishii, executive vice president of customer experience at ANA, emphasised that the airline was dedicated to ¡°providing the highest level of a customer experience¡±.
"This seat represents our commitment to exceeding expectations and shaping the future of luxury flight," said Ishii.
Ian Dryburgh, CEO and founder of Acumen, added: ¡°Building on the success and DNA of the The Room B777, this next-generation suite elevates the flying experience with a rare balance of comfort, flexibility and elegant engineering.¡±
