The US-based company has introduced CarbonSMART to its SAPPHIRE technology platform, which was launched earlier this year.
The company said that CarbonSMART combined its own 33-question Green Leaf sustainability assessment with industry benchmark data to create property-specific emissions reporting for Synergy¡¯s owned and managed properties, as well as its supplier partner network.
The tool allows clients to view carbon data, filter accommodation by different metrics and sustainability attributes, as well as benchmarking progress towards carbon reduction goals.
Synergy said in a statement that this would allow corporates to track their Scope 3 emissions from accommodation use with ¡°far greater precision¡±.
¡°We have designed CarbonSMART to deliver nightly benchmark carbon metrics, providing better transparency and encouraging sustainable practices across our portfolio offerings,¡± said Cara Lingle, Synergy¡¯s vice president, global supply chain and sales, Americas.
¡°This empowers both individual travellers and programme managers to make more informed accommodation choices in response to growing demand for sustainability and visibility.¡±
CarbonSMART¡¯s features include providing emissions data per property, per night based on carbon dioxide equivalent (mtCO2e or tCO2e); sustainability ratings; visibility on sustainable initiatives at both provider and property level; reporting by booking volume, spend and region; plus supplier benchmarking and insights.
Aaron Turner, chief technology officer at Synergy, added: ¡°This tool helps our clients track Scope 3 emissions from accommodation usage with far greater precision than anything else in the market today. More importantly, it gives our partners a roadmap to strengthen their sustainability practices.¡±
