Radisson Hotel Group has opened the Radisson RED Oslo City Centre in the Norwegian capital, which has been branded as a verified net zero hotel.
The 118-room hotel is based in a renovated building in central Oslo and was formerly a Park Inn by Radisson property. It becomes the company¡¯s second net zero property after the Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre in the UK.
Radisson RED Oslo City Centre is powered by 100 per cent renewable energy, as well as offering low-carbon menus and deploying zero-waste initiatives such as using food waste tracking software and widespread recycling.
Other sustainability elements include bulk bathroom amenities, glass water bottles, recycling bins and digital tools to reduce paper use.
The hotel¡¯s facilities include a restaurant, bar and lounge areas, alongside a gym and six meeting rooms for events of up to 100 attendees.
Inge Huijbrechts, chief sustainability and security officer at Radisson Hotel Group, said: ¡°By transforming hotels in operation to verified net zero status, we are demonstrating that net zero conversion hotels are not only possible, they are essential.
¡°With 80 per cent of the buildings that must reach net zero by 2050 already built, it is critical that we move quickly to transform existing properties. We are happy to be able to deliver the pinnacle of sustainable hospitality to our guests.¡±
